Gary, that WAS fascinating! I recall the very first public astronomy event I
ever attended was a viewing of the partial solar eclipse in 1977, on the roof
of Miami's Museum of Science. The Museum founder (and cofounder of "Southern
Cross Astronomical Society" with Harlow Shapley) was Art Smith, and I recall
listening in on a conversation that day, as he described the "solar neutrino
problem" to guests. It seems momentous that we're finally nearing a solution.
It's stange too what the mind of a kid remembers... :)
