I am definitely an environmentally sensitive person, but...

In my opinion, the suggestions for bird and bat increases are a bit on the idealistic side. My guess is that it is much more work than you imagine to bring in enough birds and bats (and to keep them from leaving). And it will take years to implement. If we did have more birds and bats near the observing field, they would leave their "calling cards" all over the place, too. Also, what if during one year, the precipitation is low and the insect population collapses (naturally) for an entire year. What will happen to the birds and bats then? The mosquitos will recover much faster than the birds and bats.

Sometimes technology is the best answer. How many of you prefer to use a telephone over a carrier pigeon for communication?
